Spotlight On… build14me

In our ‘Spotlight On’ series, we’re showcasing the many things Woodingdean has to offer, through profiles of local business owners.
This week, we’re featuring build14me, a Woodingdean-based web design company.

We build websites. It’s that simple. We created build14me because we wanted to give people a really straightforward, hassle-free way to get their own website up and running. Initially, our focus was on small businesses, but now we cater for just about anybody, including big organisations. This means that our service has become very diverse; we build websites of all shapes and sizes, from single-pages to complex e-commerce systems.

We ask all new clients three main questions. First, we ask you what your business is. Then, we establish why you want a website and who you want your audience to be. Finally, we talk about how you want it to function. These steps are very important, because often people don’t need their websites to be all-singing, all-dancing; they need them to serve a very specific purpose. A graphic designer doesn’t need the same sort of website as an electrician and neither of them needs the kind of e-commerce site that would benefit a pet supplies shop. We don’t believe in selling people things they don’t need, so we make sure to be clear with our clients from the start.

Jo, Rory and James
The three of us make an excellent team. Jo is the meeter and greeter, Rory is the ‘delver’ (he knows the right questions to ask) and James is the developer. It means we can deliver a well-rounded, effective service. Our experience from our other company Frank! Communications also helps a lot, because it allows us to give clients marketing and SEO advice as well as help with the website. We are also very good at fixing things if they go wrong; we believe that any problem with your website is our problem to solve.

Great web-design doesn’t need to cost the earth. We started out because we wanted to provide affordable websites for small businesses and budgets. Build14me’s client list has grown a lot since then, but our core values remain the same; we can design a website for just about anyone, and our versatility means that we have options fit every budget. We also believe in being clear about payment from the start, so that there aren’t any nasty surprises, and we make sure to create something that fits with what you can afford.

A good website is all about the user experience. That means how easy it is to use and how it makes people feel about your company. We’re proud of all the websites we’ve created, but our favourites are https://www.abenbookkeeping.co.uk/, SEBP, Claire Carpenter and Bramble. They’re examples of how we’re constantly pushing ourselves harder to achieve better-working, better-looking projects. We’ve improved a lot as developers in the last few years. Nothing frightens us, and we’re looking forward to expanding even further as time goes on.

build14me are at  58 Warren Road, in the Frank! office. Drop in or give them a call on 01273 670100.
