Night Time Wildlife walks in Brighton this summer

Two wildlife walks will be taking place on upcoming August nights, in different locations on the South Downs. These walks will be run by a partnership of the University of Sussex and Brighton and Hove City Council Ranger Service, giving you and opportunity to explore the countryside around Woodingdean in an entirely new light.

The first of these walks will take place:
Date: Saturday 10 August 2013
Where: Bevendean Down
Meet: Junction of Norwich Drive and Knepp Close
When: 21:00

The second walk will take place:
Date: Friday 16 August 2013
Where: Beacon Hill
Meet: At the top of Beacon Hill Road
When: 20:30

On these walks you will be accompanied by local astronomers and experts, who will impart their knowledge of the local night life of nature and answer your questions. In addition, you will not only get to experience the wildlife for yourselves using techniques such as moth trapping and thermal imaging, but if the weather is clear, you will have the opportunity to watch the sky at night using telescopes provided by the University.

The Ranger Service can often be seen patrolling your local parks, countryside and open spaces in Woodingdean and around the rest of Brighton, and work towards keeping them all at a high standard. They also provide educational events and groups to aid the conservation of our local countryside. Brighton’s Ranger Team often works closely with The Sussex Wildlife Trust and Huw Morgan, Woodingdeans Wildlife and Peoples Officer on conservation projects and other wildlife walks around the countryside of Woodingdean and Brighton! More information about the Park Rangers can be found on the City Council website
