It has around 10,000 residents living in around 3,650 homes.\n\nThere is a pub <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pubanddining.co.uk\/downs-hotel-brighton\">The Downs Hotel<\/a> that sits on the crossroads between Falmer Road and Warren Road and is a familiar landmark to people traveling into East Brighton or to the seafront at Rottingdean.<span id=\"more-294\"><\/span>\n<p>\nThe village itself has a wide range of shops &#8211; including those that run along Warren Road and Warren Way there is also a smaller selection of shops on Cowley Drive and a convenience store at&nbsp; Lockwood Crescent. Woodingdean seems to be<a href=\"https:\/\/www.woodingdeaninbusiness.co.uk\/blog\/woodingdean-bucking-the-disappearing-great-british-high-street-trend\/#more-157\"> \u2018bucking the disappearing Great British High Street\u2019 <\/a>trend.\n\nFor people living in Woodingdean (or thinking of moving here) what do you need to know?\n\nThere are two post offices \u2013 one at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.postoffice.co.uk\/branch-finder\/0269077\/woodingdean \">104-106 Warren Road BN2 6BA<\/a> in the Premier (formerly Best One) shop and one on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.postoffice.co.uk\/branch-finder\/0669075\/cowley-drive\">Cowley Drive<\/a>.\n\nThere are 2 pharmacies \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhs.uk\/services\/pharmacy\/well\/FVP55\">Well Pharmacy<\/a>, Woodingdean 13 Warren Way, BN2 6PH&nbsp; usually open weekdays between&nbsp;08:45 &#8211; 18:15 and Saturday&nbsp;8:45 &#8211; 13:00. On the day we moved to the village 15 years ago &nbsp;it was wet, dark, cold and windy, and we really did wonder what on earth we had done. The following day , the sun was shining and our new neighbours popped round to say hello. They gave us some great advice; that a few days a year Woodingdean is a pretty dismal place \u2013 cold, wet, windy and poor visibility \u2013 but when the sun shines there really is no place you\u2019d rather be. They were right!<\/em>\n\n<script src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\" async=\"\"><\/script>\nThere are many pockets of excellent \u2018community\u2019 in and around Woodingdean \u2013 based not just on location but also around groups and activities.\n\nFor the past two years <a href=\"https:\/\/woodingdeanplayers.co.uk\/\">the Woodingdean Players<\/a> have put on a pantomime &nbsp;\u2013 written and performed by local people.&nbsp; &nbsp;The pantomime is a real community event \u2013 that involves people of all ages from all parts of the village. Sadly there is not a pantomime in 2017 &#8211; but the organisers have promised there will be one in 2018.&nbsp;\n\nThe December 2015 pantomime was Peter Pandemonium and reviews placed on the Woodingdean Players Face book page included\n\n<em>&#8216;To everyone involved in Peter Pandemonium thank you so much x you all made my first stage appearance such a blast&#8230;..&nbsp;The audiences were great and everyone went home smiling and in good Christmas spirit! <\/em>\n\n<em>&#8216;An amazing event put on and supported by the community. Well done to everyone involved&#8230; &#8216;<\/em>\n\n<em>What a fantastic evening! The whole family loved it.
